Most checks will be returned almost instantly and 70% of checks will be returned within 48 hours. However some checks may take longer than this so please allow up to 10 business days when completing your check.

How Long does a Police/NCCHC Check Last

A NCCHC is a moment in time check so it is only accurate up to the time it is completed and will not be updated with any new information. Because of this the check has no expiry it just depends how frequently the company wants the check updated.

Application process

How to Complete a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) via our secure online portal.

1. Begin application

Click on the link above to go through to the CrimCheck Application Portal. Make sure you have all your identity documents ready before you begin.

2. Read the privacy information

Carefully read through the privacy information before providing your consent. This ensures you understand how your data will be used.

3. Enter personal details and select check purpose

Provide your personal details including your name, date of birth, contact information, and all addresses from the past five years. Then select the purpose of your check so the results align with the role or requirement.

4. Payment and delivery options

Enter your payment details. You can also choose to have a printed copy of your results mailed to you at an additional cost.

5. Confirm your identity

Take a selfie to confirm your identity. If your current device does not have a camera, use the QR code to submit the photo from a different device.

6. Upload your documents

Upload all required identity documents. Once all of your details and documents have been verified, your check will be lodged with the National Police Checking Service. You will be notified as soon as your results return.

Your police check certificate

Once your police check has been processed by ACIC, you will receive an email confirming your check is complete. You can click the secure link to view your certificate and download it to save a copy.

A printed copy can be posted to you at an additional fee of $6.00 inc GST - you can select this option when you are processing your check.

Is a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History check the same as a police check?

Yes, a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is the same as a national police check. They both refer to the same police records. These checks can also be referred to as police clearance and national clearance certificates.

What information is included in the check?

A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check shows all disclosable court outcomes and criminal charges. This includes any pending court charges, findings of guilt, suspended sentences, convictions leading to served sentences, and all other criminal convictions that are not classed as spent convictions. Criminal convictions include crimes such as drink-driving, speeding or shoplifting. Your Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check will turn up an NDCO if you have no criminal history.
