Financial background checks
Financial Checks provide insight into an Individual’s financial history, helping Organisations assess risk before placing people in roles of trust or responsibility. These checks give you confidence that staff, volunteers, or board members are financially responsible and meet compliance requirements.
There are two main types of Financial Checks offered by CrimCheck:
• Credit Report
• Bankruptcy Check
Each type offers different information and is needed in different situations.
Credit reports
A Consumer Credit Report provides a snapshot of an Individual’s credit worthiness based on their financial history. It goes beyond a simple credit score, detailing credit enquiries, bill payments, defaults, court judgments, and existing credit such as mortgages or credit cards.
This check helps identify patterns of financial management and any potential risk factors, making it useful for Businesses, Landlords, or Organisations assessing financial responsibility.
International credit reports
CrimCheck also offers International Credit Reports for Individuals who have lived or worked overseas. These checks provide verified credit history information from International Credit Bureaus, helping Organisations assess financial responsibility across borders.
Due to variations in processes and protocols between countries, costs and turnaround times may differ.
If you’d like information about a specific country, contact our team, we’ll be happy to walk you through the process.
Bankruptcy checks (ASIC personal insolvency)
A Bankruptcy Check confirms whether an Individual has ever been declared bankrupt or has any insolvency proceedings recorded against them, including those that are no longer current.
This check is most often used for licence applications or positions involving financial responsibility or oversight.
Financial checks are important to:
1. Protect Your Organisation – identify financial risks before appointing or hiring.
2. Ensure Compliance – meet industry regulations and governance standards.
3. Strengthen Trust – demonstrate due diligence to clients and stakeholders.
4. Prevent Fraud & Mismanagement – safeguard your organisation’s resources.
